Program Success

Teen Challenge has a documented success by three research surveys. In 1975 by the Office of Health, Education, and Welfare by Dr. Catherine Hess. The second one in 1994, conducted by Dr. Rodger D. Thompson of Chattanooga, Tennessee. The third one in June, 1999 at Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois by Aaron Todd Bicknese, a graduate student.

The 1975 HEW study reported an 86 percent cure rate. In the 1994 study, 88 percent needed no further rehabilitation following graduation of Teen Challenge, and 100 percent of the respondents would recommend Teen Challenge to others.

The 1999 study reflected that 87 percent of Teen Challenge Alumni surveyed were drug free, 71 percent were drug and alcohol free, and 90 percent were employed. Nationally, Teen Challenge has received recognition from Presidents Ronald Reagan and George Bush. Locally, Rochester Teen Challenge has received recognition by both Mayor Thomas Ryan and Mayor William Johnson.
